Rob and his wife, Candy, moved to Chapel Hill from northern Virginia. Rob's experience, in addition to his pastorate in Virginia, include service as a youth pastor and military service with the Virginia National Guard. Rob believes that by seeking God's direction a united ministry team along with strong lay leaders can impact our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Rob graduated from Emory and Henry College with majors in history and classical studies and from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. In addition, he completed his Doctorate of Ministry at the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia with a concentration in marriage and family counseling.

Rob and Candy have a five-year-old son, Igor, and a two-year-old son, Henry. They enjoy travel and meeting people from other countries. Being raised in the Midwest, Rob is an avid Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, and University of Michigan football fan. In addition, he enjoys reading and backpacking.

Jonathan Elwing, Associate Pastor, Director of Youth
Jonathan just moved to North Carolina last year from Florida where he served as associate pastor at Trinity Baptist Church for three years and as youth pastor at Liberty Community Church for almost a year.

Jonathan went to the Baptist College of Florida for four years where he worked on a degree in Christian Education. Jon is currently attending Liberty University to finish work on his bachelor’s and then plans to attend Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary for his master’s.

Jonathan is newly married. Jon and his beautiful wife Krystal were married May 5, 2007. They have two little boys, a four year old daschund named Spike and a five year old bassett hound named Xander.

Heather Thomas Folliard, Associate Pastor, Director of Discipleship
Born and raised in the beautiful mountain town of Blowing Rock, NC, Heather moved to Chapel Hill to attend UNC. She graduated from UNC-CH in 2002 with a degree in Biology. After being active in HillSong's College ministry as a student, she took the role of Lay Minister to college students following her graduation out of her desire to see students staying connected to the Church during their college experience.

Heather is currently in her second year of the Masters of Divinity Program at Duke University. While continuing to serve as minister to college students, in January 2008 she was called as the Associate Pastor and Director of Discipleship.

She and her husband John were married May 5, 2007, and enjoy living in their college town of Chapel Hill. They love Tar Heel sports! Even their dog Bogey dons Carolina Blue from time to time.

Dina Sit, Church Secretary

Dina was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. She is a graduate of UC Davis and Golden Gate Baptist Seminary. Dina moved to Chapel Hill with her husband, Roger, and their sons, Logan and Bryce, in 2002. She enjoys small groups, singing, puzzles, and mystery novels. Dina serves on the Worship Team and is a worship leader for Vacation Bible School. She also leads the Tuesday morning Ladies Small Group.

Faye Hilger and Teresa Church, our Children’s Ministry leaders, provide training and support for a fantastic team of teachers and workers who teach our children in a safe and loving atmosphere.

Lay Worship Team Leaders
